OTEN is one of the largest distance education centres in Australia providing accredited TAFE courses for around 200 qualifications and currently supports 28,000 students.
The Open Training and Education Network (OTEN) is a business unit of Western Sydney Institute with its own Registered Training Organisation (RTO) status, providing specialist distance education and training services. TAFE NSW understands that individuals and enterprises have different vocation, education and workforce development needs, and is committed to helping you develop real skills for real careers or increasing the skills and training of your workforce.
OTEN offers around 200 qualifications and courses flexibly and by distance, giving individuals the opportunity to study at a time and place that best suits them. A new website, Australian Workforce Development Solutions has recently been launched to provide employers with information about our services to assist with increasing their business productivity.
OTEN delivers Nationally Recognised Training from the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Our courses are developed from National Training Packages or can be tailored to the needs of industry or an enterprise. Courses are regularly reviewed in consultation with relevant industry and community groups. The TAFE NSW qualification our graduates receive are highly valued by industry and associated organisations, other education and training providers and the wider community - in Australia and internationally.
Counselling and careers support is available for FREE before and after enrolment. A range of support services such as, recognition of prior learning and support services for special needs is available to enrolled students through OTEN or TAFE NSW colleges. In addition, online services are easily accessed through the DET Portal and the Online Learning Support websites.
Our organisation is located in the Sydney suburb of Strathfield, close to the site of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. OTEN is built on the territory of the Wangal clan of the Eora people, the traditional Indigenous owners of this part of Sydney.
